DJ Genius

DJ Genius, known in real life as Robert de Wit, started his DJ career in 1996 playing mainly old school and hardcore. Through local clubs and one of the Mid-Town stores, where he got to meet DJ Stanton, he got noticed by various party organizations such as the Rotterdam based b2s, for which he debuted on one of their many back2school events. After successful stand-in DJ performances for DJ Stanton at the Ministry of dance club – nowadays better known as Eclipse – Genius was asked to be the resident jock at Hardbeat Café, Rotterdam. Many booking requests followed and after meeting DJ Francois, he became the sunday resident at the legendary afterhours club Zino in Tilburg as well.

Nowadays, DJ Genius is considered a much-in-demand DJ and a regular force behind the decks on the biggest events of the Benelux, such as Defqon1, Hard Bass, Emporium, Pleasure Island, Crazyland, Decibel, Reverze and Bassleader. Besides these massive events, he regularly can be found in the booths of high profile clubs and venues like Eclipse, Matrixx and Complex.

Producer

Production wise, Genius rapidly develops himself to be a highly skilled producer; he received the honor to compile and mix part 3 of the widely popular jumpstyle mix CD series “Tremble Tracks Presents Jumpstyle” and one of the discs of the famous Bassleader double CD compilation.

Not limited to one particular style

Besides his tight mixing skills on the decks and on compilations, he delivered fantastic remix jobs for the club classic “Blow ya mind” by Lock ‘N Load and Franky Carbones “Hamela” – co-produced with his studio buddy Digital Punk – , both released on Tremble Tracks.

In September 2006, DJ Genius presented his Tremble Tracks debut release “The Joker” in collaboration with producer Franky Carbone, which quickly became a record that rarely left the DJ cases of national and international hardstyle and jumpstyle jocks, receiving huge international support. The official follow-up “Pureness” followed virtually the same path and is available in global record stores and at the biggest download portals since June 2007.

When you think Genius is 100% jumpstyle, you’re wrong. He is in to all kinds of styles. He reflects his wide musical vision through his performances where he mashes up jumpstyle, hardstyle, old school and hard trance, all being blended into steaming and pumping DJ sets without limiting himself to only one particular style.
